5 Nutrition Mistakes That Are Killing Your Training

5 Nutrition Mistakes That Are Killing Your Training

You train hard. You show up. But progress is slow — and the problem might not be your program. It might be your plate. Here are the five nutrition mistakes I see killing training progress, and the simple fixes for each.

Mistake 1: Training on empty, every time

Fasted training has its place, but doing it by accident — skipping breakfast, rushing to the gym on coffee — leaves you with an empty tank. Fix: eat something real 1–2 hours before you train. Nothing fancy. Just food.

Mistake 2: Undereating after strength work

You just told your body to build muscle, then gave it nothing to build with. Fix: a solid meal with protein after training. Your muscles recover from food, not from willpower.

Mistake 3: Forgetting water

Dehydration kills performance before you even feel thirsty. Fix: water all day, more around training. It is the cheapest performance enhancer that exists.

Mistake 4: Buying the supplement shelf instead of eating

The industry sells the illusion of the magic powder. Reality: food does the work; basics sit in the background. Fix: get your meals right first. Supplements are the last 5%, not the first.

Mistake 5: Changing your diet every week

Keto on Monday, fasting on Friday, macros next week. Your body never adapts because you never give it a stable rhythm. Fix: pick one simple, repeatable day of eating and run it for months.

The rhythm that fixes all five

Three simple meals a day. Water — always. Green tea. An honest minimum of basics: creatine HCl, amino acids, a multivitamin. That is the exact eating rhythm I follow behind my kettlebell program — built on 20 years of real training: wrestling, combat sambo, MMA.

I laid the whole day out in a short bulletin, Alpha Fuel: https://u10zu6-gv.myshopify.com/products/alpha-fuel — it reads in one sitting and gives you a day you can repeat forever.

Not medical advice — this is my personal experience. Talk to your doctor before changing your diet or taking supplements. Your doctor wins, every time.
